«Navigating the Social Media Jungle: Strategies for Corporate Communications» Over 180 communications professionals gathered at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne to participate in the Lac Leman Communications Forum. The theme for the day-long forum was "Navigating the Social Media Jungle: Strategies for Corporate Communications" With social media taking a prevalent position as a key communication tool in the professional world, leading experts from academia and the professional world discussed the relevant practices and issues of social media today. Keynote speakers Professor Paul Argenti, Darmouth College, Professor Bertil Cottier, Università della Svizzera italiana, Mr. Adrian Monck, World Economic Forum and Professor Andreina Mandelli, Università della Svizzera italiana, discussed topics from strategies for powerful corporate communications and internet governance to social media at the World Economic Forum to social media's role in transforming business and ROI in corporate communications. Breakout sessions were also held, which focused on a particular organization and their social media experiences and challenges. Representatives from IBM, Google, Médecins Sans Frontiéres and the International Olympic Committee presented topics for an interactive discussion among participants. Attendees also participated in a "Best Practice Forum", which included three 20-minute rounds where participans chose from 14 different "information stations" covering a range of social media topics from organizations such as, IBM, Google, World Wildlife Fund, ICRC, International Olympic Committee, Virtua, Dupont, (YWCA) Young Women's Christian Association, European Training Foundation, Médecins Sans Frontiéres, Burson-Marsteller, Geneva Communicators Network and UNAIDS. |
